We grow between the cracks We reach over fences We feed ourselves We take root Does our presence bother you? Unwanted intruders Unwanted intruders Soon this garden will be ours The bees do not discern The difference between us You're only "sweeter" here Inside this enclosure Beauty cannot be contained Unwanted Intruders Unwanted Intruders Soon this garden will be ours

I'd like to move the way the wind blows I’d like to travel how the water flows Carried by the current for a while And when I land I’d like to rest the way the stones do To lie forever taking in the view Never wishing I were somewhere else Yet here I am Like a bee that’s trapped inside Against the glass her wings collide A wall she cannot comprehend Against which she cannot contend But in the end She found her peace upon the window sill She found it in the act of sitting still And when she found the strength to try again She flew outside Through an open window And so I see the way it could be And through the glass I see a better me But growing up is harder than it seems So many dreams
They turn around in cycles in my mind A knot of expectations intertwined But when I found that I’m already whole I let them go I learned move the way the wind blows And now I travel how the water flows Carried by the current for a while I found my way I learned to rest the way the stones do To lie forever taking in the view Never wishing I were somewhere else I learned to fly Through an open window

about

All the information required to create a sunflower—ten feet tall with a golden face which smiles and waves in celebration of itself—is contained in a modest, gray seed. “Seeds” is a practice in finding community, letting go of expectations, allowing ourselves and others the space to take risks, and welcoming the possibility that something magnificent might emerge. Joined by my friends Iago, Nadav, and Emmanuelle, I compiled a suite of ideas which intertwine to become whole in their amalgamation. Playful, fragmented, lyrical, joyous and solemn, the music is at once unfamiliar and inviting. Defined by the collaborative process rather than the end result, it is a celebration of resilience, nurturing, and unfolding. Scattered throughout the album are nods to my musical heroes, images from my home in Maine, and experiments in prepared piano and vocal writing. “Seeds” is a compilation of everything that has brought me to this moment and a hope for what is to come.
